The iHSD is fitted to the rear of the combine, in the location the chaff spreader normally occupies on the New Holland combine (the chaff spreader is removed). All chaff (trash) material from the sieves is directed into the iHSD wide mouth hopper with foreign objects retained in the stone trap below.
Straw is passed over the iHSD to the New Holland residue handling system, and is not processed by the iHSD. The chaff material is augered by the iHSD bi-directional auger to the mills at each side for processing by the iHSD mills operating at 3000RPM, killing targeted weed seeds at up to 99.8%.
The processed material is then spread back on to the field as inert organic material, through the iHSD outlet chutes.
The iHSD can be bypassed by removing the rear door for chaff rowing or grain loss checks.
